This past weekend I drove down to the Outer Banks to chill on the beach and hang out with photographers across the country (Shey, Andrea, Amber, Laura, Kerri, Kelly, Kristina, Amy, Jami and Becky). Here are a few photos I took around the house and beach.

We couldn’t have asked for better weather the entire time we were down there. It was in the high 70’s/low 80’s with the sun out the entire time.

There will be at least 3 more posts in regards to this weekend, so come back this week to see them all.

six flags great adventure | central jersey photographer

Last Monday August 31st, Anthony and I went to Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ. It was the perfect day to go, beautiful weather, not too busy, and it was Buy One Get One Free w/a Coca Cola can. We were able to ride all the rides (minus the wooden ones which I’m never a fan of) and stood in line no more than 45 minutes for any one ride (even if it said the wait was 120 minutes). We love roller coasters and to know Six Flags is less than 30 minutes away is going to be dangerous next summer!

Superman: Ultimate Flight

The in summer of 2006, the Schmidt family went to Cedar Point in Ohio to ride coasters. There we experienced the first tallest & fastest roller coaster, the Time Speed Dragster. Now here in NJ, they have the world’s fastest & tallest roller coaster, the Kingda Ka. It goes from 0 to 128 mph in 3.5 seconds and you go up 45 stories tall, your life flashing before you. Its the most thrilling experience ever. First photo is the coaster while in line and the second was right after we got off (after fixing my hair of course!)

We will definitely be going back, even if they gauge us on drinks, parking, and other items.

Shannon - First of all, take me with you next time you go to Six Flags! Lucas isn’t a fan of amusement parks but I am. ๐Ÿ™‚ Secondly, oh my gosh, that coaster would be too much for me! I don’t know if I could do it. ๐Ÿ™‚ Glad you had fun!

September 9, 2009 - 1:00 pm

kelly g - You’re brave!! Coasters scare me. LOL! I went on our “big” one here and lost and earring and my hair tie and decided never again. Haha!! We’re not too far from Cedar Point and my brothers used to go all the time. I’m too much of a wimp!!

September 9, 2009 - 3:49 pm

Kerri Mathis - You are SO brave! I’ll do roller coasters – but not something like the Kingda Ka. The Texas Cyclone is as dangerous as I get!

September 10, 2009 - 2:31 pm

Rebecca - I haven’t been on a ride in SO LONG. I need to go! FUN shots!!

September 14, 2009 - 5:50 pm

Jessica Wright - Love the Superman ones, very cool!

MoMA | new york city photographer

Like I said in the previous post, I’m sharing more of our time at MoMA.

There were some items that I was blown away that were on display. Like this one, its basically four colored panels.

This is made from newspaper clippings, pretty cool.

Performance 4 is the name of this ongoing exhibition. It started as blank room (4 walls) and an employee of MoMA writes the name, height, and date of visit of any visitor. From far away it just looks like chicken scratch, but you see thousands of names. In the second photo you can see it a little closer. The line was fairly long and my feet were hurting so we didn’t participate but I knew I’d be in that black mess.

Compressed cardboard lounge chair. I was more than willing to take a load off on this thing.

Not only did we do all that I’ve blogged about, but we also went to see Next to Normal on Broadway. I liked it, fun music, although a heavy topic (mom w/bipolar disorder). That rounds out the total of Broadway plays to 5. I’m hoping to make that number much higher before we leave the east.

September 7, 2009 - 10:36 pm

Jaidean Baker - All of these are very cool! Performance 4 is really cool!

September 8, 2009 - 2:11 pm

Rebecca - Ooooooh, I like Performance 4 – that’s a really interesting idea!

nyc day 2 | new york city photographer

This is a little late as it was almost two weeks ago, but I wanted to come back and revisit our second day in NYC.

Our room at the Best Western President Hotel. It was just perfect for us until we fell asleep that night. Our window was on the side of the street and right next door to the fire department. We got woken up several times from firetrucks or the garbage truck. The joys of staying in NYC.

We took the subway over to Grand Central Station. It was my first experience there and its more than breathtaking.

After Grand Central, we went to the Museum of Modern Art. The first three photos are from an exhibit Projects 90: Song Dong. Its all the items that came from his mother’s house, collected over 50 years, including the hut structure. It was incredible to see all of it laying out.

I’m going to be posting more photos from MoMA tomorrow.

A lastly we stopped at Crumbs Bakery. Red Velvet Cupcake. YUM!!

September 6, 2009 - 5:53 pm

Jaidean Baker - So fun! I have only been to NYC once and was soooo surprised at how small the hotel rooms are! And I never made it to Grand Central Station either and am bummed! Love these pictures!

September 6, 2009 - 9:34 pm

Christie Adams - Beautiful shots Kim!! You make me want to go into the city right now.

September 7, 2009 - 2:34 am

Rebecca - I want to go to NYC soooooo bad! Looks like fun!

October 3, 2009 - 2:44 pm

Tracy - This cupcake looks DELICIOUS! I want to be in NYC and eat one now!!
