nyc getaway

Like I mentioned in this post, Anthony and I took a weekend getaway into NYC this past weekend. It was just what the two of us needed as school is “winding” down (I put that in quotes because a month away is Anthony’s first comp exam – which means life is going to be stressful in this household for the next 4 weeks!).

The whole reason we were even going to be in NYC was to see Promises, Promises. I adore Kristen Chenoweth (I mean she’s a fellow Okie!) and was excited to see her on Broadway. Unfortunately it was a bit of a let down, but I am glad we got to see her and Sean Hayes on stage together.

We arrived at our hotel Friday mid-afternoon to drop our things off before heading down to the Intrepid. All I can say is that is one huge boat!

Please tell me you can just hear the yell coming out of his mouth?!?!?

I was there! ๐Ÿ™‚

Saturday morning we ventured down towards the Flatiron so we could have lunch at Shake Shack in Madison Square Park. We had some time to kill before lunch, so we walked along until we found Union Square Farmers Market. And holy goodness if we weren’t walking more that day I would have bought much more than our few muffins and empire apples.

All the fresh flowers made me smile – spring is here!!!!

I seriously had no idea how popular the Shake Shack is, but I’m glad we got in line when we did. By the time we ordered, the line was starting to wrap around the park. The food was delicious and I even had a banana & vanilla concrete (Rusty’s Frozen Custard in Oklahoma serves these so it was a little piece of “home” in NYC!)

I have another post coming up with iphone photos including some incredibly good luck we had on Saturday night!

A few photos from our day adventure at the Jasmine Moran Children’s Museum in Seminole, Oklahoma. I absolutely love that I have these photos of the boys. This was their first time at the museum and to see the awe, wonderment, and excitement on their faces was priceless!

This was the first thing Randon saw when we walked in – that look of joy on his face warms my heart!

There is a little grocery store with “just the right size” shopping cart for Rylan to push around.

The bubble station was one of our last stops and boy did we have fun in there.

weekend getaway

We are doing a little birthday celebratin’ (even though it’s a few weeks away) this weekend in NYC. Thankfully the weather is suppose to be superb, we have an awesome hotel in Times Square, going to see Sean Hayes and Kristin Chenoweth in Promises, Promises on Saturday and then topping it off with a little Easter service at St. Patty’s.

Here’s a photo I grabbed while taking some photos in downtown OKC. More of those photos are to come too!

This past week I went back to Oklahoma to visit my family. As I mentioned in a previous post, my parents have temporary custody of my nephews. Today marks one month and I know it’s been quite an adjustment for my parents. I am glad I had the chance to visit and play with my nephews. We played hard over the weekend, going to a children’s museum (those photos are to come!) and playing outside. Here are a few of my favorite photos.

This is Conner, who the boys absolutely love. He loves them just as much, protecting them at all times. When I was trying to take his photo, he was being rotten and refused to look at me. Then he laid his head down as if he was over my camera! In a few weeks, he’s going back to be with my brother Eric when he gets settled back down in Dallas.

This one was my buddy all week. We played with play dough, learned how to play Go Diego Go on the Wii, went to the museum and learned a bunch, and took many a bath!

love and tears go together, right? | princeton family photographer

This is a very raw and emotional blog post for me. I write this because I owe it to the man I love. Who unconditionally loves me.

Haven’t we, as women, dreamed about the day of meeting our “tall, dark, and handsome”? Over 7 years ago I met mine on a crazy football-induced weekend in Dallas, Texas. Most days I cannot believe Anthony chose me to be his partner for life. I was such a b-i-t-c-h to him when we first met, but I sure did make fun of the boot that I had to wear since I broke my foot several weeks beforehand. Who knew that my sense of humor (which I never thought I had) would be a key role in the beginning of our relationship.

He was there when I went crazy from studying organic chemistry, making sure to get me out of the sorority house for my sanity. He attended many sorority date parties, even though that wasn’t his thing. He went along with all my decisions for our wedding (the bride always makes the decisions, right?). He endured the long-arse drive from Sonoma/Napa Valley to Washington state on our honeymoon. He stood by my side for the many months of frustration, tears, and depression when we first moved to Nashville. He stood by my side when I took a leap and started a young adult group at our church. He encouraged me to start a photography business and has been my biggest supporter. He held me close when I was uncertain about moving to New Jersey. And now that times are tough again, he holds me even closer telling me it will all be okay.

There are many times when I just want to yell “you just don’t understand!” But deep down I know he does. He understands where my anger comes from and he accepts it. He knows exactly where the love is and how to draw that out of me when I try to shut down. Recently he came into the living room as it was nearing bed time to tell me that it was hard for him to be in the back (where his office/room is) reading while I was in the living room sad and bored and all the other emotions I’ve been feeling lately. My heart melted right then and there. THIS is why we are together – he totally gets me.

The past 6 months have been trying and difficult for me. If you follow me on twitter or a friend on facebook you may have seen updates recently about my nephews. For the time being my parents have temporary custody of their two grandsons. This isn’t what life is suppose to be for my parents. These are their golden years. I had no idea the effect the situation would have on me.

Anthony is the one who brings me back to reality when I wake from a nightmare. He is there to rub my back, wipe away the tears, hug me until I pull away when I break down almost every single day.

This is an ode to the man who brings me joy every.single.day. Thank you Anthony for loving me when I’m happy and giggly, when I have the ugly cry going on, when I wind up the windmill. You are my rock!
