Today’s a New Day

Today was my first day of being a full-time photographer!! Last Friday was my last day of watching Sully. I was sad to leave him, but I’m just thrilled my business is taking off. Actually in the last 30 minutes of being with Sully, he learned “Up”. And I think he comprehended it – I’d put him on the ground, he’d put his arms out, and I’d say up, he’d repeat and I lifted him and gave praises. It was too precious!

I was very productive today – I finally set up a business checking account. 🙂 Its pretty much official now (right??) I did lots of other errands (like taking pants to get altered and filling up my tank with gas) that were much needed.

Last week (I think it was) Anthony & I went to the St. Henry volleyball match. Here are some action shots of the girls. They are really good – so competitive but polite at the same time (I mean they are Catholic!) We’re really going to miss them all when we go up to NJ. I know they’re going to miss Anthony as well. Good job Tigers!

Harry Potter

I never ever thought I’d read the Harry Potter series – but guess what? I am! I love to listen to series on my iPod while driving places, cleaning house, showering, getting ready, etc.. There is a lot of down time in our lives and I love listening to books on tape (or iPod!) This is actually my 2nd series to listen to – I started with the Stephanie Plum novels by Janet Evanovich (One for the Money, etc.) in January. I’m on number 3 – Prisoner of Azkaban. J.K. Rowlings is a brilliant lady. Her imagination is so far out there to dream up this story of Harry Potter and the magical world. I can definitely see why so many people love Harry Potter. I probably would have never read them without listening, but Jim Dale does a fantastic job reading. There’s something about a British reader that makes any book that much better.

If you haven’t ever read or listened to this series, I recommend it (along with the Stephanie Plum ones).

Life

You know the kind of days when you just want to cry and not do anything?

That was yesterday. It was a hard day.

I have many many things to be thankful for and there was no reason for my selfishness. I actually received a card from a high school friend and it hurt. Just plain hurt. I guess I deserved it, but it was a slap in my face. I owned up to my mistakes but I guess it didn’t really matter that much. On top of the crappy day I was having, then getting the letter was just icing on the cake. I have a hard time keeping girl friends. Not sure what it is. Out of the 4 ladies who were in our wedding, I barely speak to 2 of them. I know that after college many times you lose touch, but it just hurts. I feel I’m a good friend, but maybe I’m not. Thankfully I have my husband. He’s the person I lean on and know that I can cry on his shoulder any day. Yesterday he was there for me. He asked me about dinner and that’s when I lost it. I think its carried over to today as well. I hope tomorrow will be better. I hate feeling this down and out about life.

I’m reading Mother Teresa: Come Be My Light for a book club that meets this Sunday. Its a very intense book and it has made me realize how selfish we as Americans are. Can you imagine giving up everything and working with the poorest of the poor? Mother Teresa was pained by all of this, but she continued to do what God asked of her. That, in my opinion, is more than so many of us could ever do in our lifetime. I wish I was that dedicated. I could go and go about my thoughts from this book.

I know I’m rambling on and on about nothing. I know this week will get better – I have three sessions which I’m really excited about. Can’t wait to share them with you all.

WE’RE NEW JERSEY BOUND COME JULY

It’s official – We’re heading to Princeton, New Jersey!!! Anthony let them know today that he’s accepted their offer! We are both really excited about this new journey. It will take some gettin’ use to those Northerns, but I think we can survive 3 years. We’re really sad to leave the Nashville area; all of our friends, our church, everything. You will be deeply missed. BUT, I’m gonna come back often. There are some cheap flights from Philly to Nashville.

For those people who are interested in my photography, PLEASE still contact me. We won’t be outta town until the end of July. And like I mentioned, I can come back often.

NYC

We ventured into NYC on Wednesday of our trip to NJ. It was my first experience in NYC. And truthfully it was nothing special to me. Maybe I was just not in the mood to be super excited, but I thought it was a just a large city (as if I’ve really been in many large cities!). I have a friend who loves NYC and when I came back she asked my opinion. I think she was a tad hurt that I didn’t find it magnificent. I’m not gonna lie – I could get use to living that close to such a large city. I mean we’re talking B&H Photo Video is up there!!! I’d be in heaven. And if you are starving for Starbucks Coffee its literally on every block (I counted upwards to 15 and we didn’t even walk that far!)

My first ever train ride!!

Right across from Macy’s!

There was this large motorcade of cops and yes they all had their sirens going as if that was necessary! We didn’t know where they were going (and they were pretty much at a stand still for a good 15 minutes). I know that day there was a group of protesters in the financial district and my theory is they were going over there.

St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Incredible!
